Lemon Head is a pattern that resembles Liberian fabric, Lappa, used to create head wraps and clothing. This surface pattern design was originally a hand-drawn piece. A thin-tipped Sharpie and highlighter were used to add color. I scanned the drawing, inversed+saturated the colors, and created a kaleidoscope-inspired pattern.
While designing this print, I had some financial restraints. Due to my parents believing a career in the arts is taboo, I made do with what I had. So a thin-tipped Sharpie, highlighter, and my afterschool programs scanner were my go-to. I am glad everything turned out more than I could have imagined. This piece sparked my drive and passion for graphic design.
